What are The 4 Pillars of a Man’s Heart?
This video explains the principles behind Stu Weber’s book:
The Four Pillars of a Man’s Heart. Every man has in his heart the capacity and desire to be a King, a Warrior, a Mentor, and a Friend – and ultimately a strong leader for his family and community.
So let’s examine what those four pillars mean…
A King – To Provide
A Warrior – To Protect
A Mentor – To Teach
A Friend – To Connect
Strong pillars make for a solid house built on a solid foundation. How strong are your pillars?
Why is Superhero Leadership Organic:
Why is Superhero Leadership Organic?
I’ve been asked by some of the readers of Lead Like a Superhero what I mean by ‘Leadership is Organic’ on a few occasions. We obviously live in a world where organic food has become quite popular. But what is organic food anyway? It’s simply food with nothing added – grown from pure seed (No Monsanto Monstrosity) and grown in a pure soil. It is pure, unadulterated, natural, genuine food… with no chemicals. It is AUTHENTIC. So organic leadership is also AUTHENTIC and grown in a pure soil.
But what are the components of organic leadership? Simply this: Brains, Heart, and Guts. This is what makes a true leader. These are also the ingredients of… a hero!
Hero, Leader, Warrior – What is the difference?
Hero, Leader, Warrior, the Superheroes I picked for the roster in Lead Like a Superhero are all three – us, probably not. Nevertheless, if you want to lead like a superhero, at times you will have to act heroically (self-sacrifice) – to be a hero, and at times you will need a warrior’s spirit to make those tough and ruthless decisions. And, of course, you will need to lead. Leadership, is not for the faint of heart. It will test your mettle. If not your body, it will certainly make your heart bleed at times.
To lead others you must first know yourself – Here’s how:
The four temperaments were first coined by Hippocrates. They are still relevant today as they ever were.
The Greek physician Hippocrates (c. 460 – c. 370 BC) incorporated the four temperaments into his medical theories. Four temperaments is a proto-psychological theory that suggests that there are four fundamental personality types, sanguine (optimistic and social), choleric (short-tempered or irritable), melancholic (analytical and quiet), and phlegmatic (relaxed and peaceful). Most formulations include the possibility of mixtures of the types.
In Lead Like a Superhero, I examine how our favourite superheroes exemplify these four temperaments in action. This will also help you to do the same for you, and enable you to develop your self-knowledge, and ultimately, your leadership.
The 7 Key Qualities of a Super Leader:
In Lead Like a Superhero I give each ‘Superhero-Type’ Leader a “Report Card” in their respective chapter. I basically grade the ability of the leader-type based on 7 key characteristics. They are as follows:
