Have You Thrown Away Your Birthright to Become a Servant?

Insights you probably missed…

Most of us are familiar with the parable of the prodigal son. It’s the story of us… when we came to our senses and came back to the Father in repentance, right? It’s a story about the lost becoming saved. The wretched being forgiven. It is all of this, of course.

That’s the way we’ve been taught this timeless parable of our Lord in Sunday school, and then later in Church by most pastors.

But when we take the time to read the story, study it, and consider how most Christians lead their lives, we notice something very peculiar – even troubling.

There seems to be something we’re missing about this story – something vital. And there is!

In this episode, we’ll look at what that peculiar thing is, and how, by understanding it, we can correct our thinking, our walk, and our results.

Are you ready? Let’s dig deeper!

In this Episode you Will:

  • Get a thorough Biblical analysis of the Prodigal Son’s story.

  • Understand the power a single decision can have.

  • Grasp the crucial differences between servants and sons.

  • Understand the dynamics of repentance, forgiveness, and restoration.

  • Learn how to avoid the sin of ‘Excessive Humility’.

Memorable Quotes:

“The father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.  Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate.”

– Luke [15:22]-24

“When we do what we want instead of what God wants, we are living like pagans.”

“Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD.”

1 Samuel [15:23]

The unbeliever is in open rebellion against the Father because He seeks to live life His way and do His own thing.”

“In many ways, when God granted human beings free will, He gave them a ‘share of the estate’. ”

“If you yourself, or if you’ve ever witnessed a friend or relative who became backslidden, the first thing they do is put some distance between themselves and holy influences in their life.”

If life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up. And if you get up, you can stand up. And if you stand up, you can fight for your dream once again.”

– Les Brown

“If there are 1000 steps that separate us from God and we make one small step towards our Father in heaven, He will cover the 999 remaining steps as He runs towards us. He covers us with His grace and embraces us.”

“We love to talk about the repentance of the son and the forgiveness of the Father, but we seem to miss the part about the son’s restoration.”

“Excessive humility is just another form of rebellion.”

“We are exhorted to serve and anointed to rule.”

“Religion is for people afraid of going to hell, Spirituality is for those who have been there.”

“The older brother in the story does all the right things for all the wrong reasons.”
